Another submission to the
Calypso Moon Artist Movement a self portrait using all the colours of the rainbow. You can see the look of concentration in my eyes as I focus on myself in the mirror. Haha, I don't think I've ever spent so long in front of the mirror! I should of brushed hair and perhaps I need to wear more moisturiser! I really enjoyed this challenge, as I avoid painting portraits at all costs! I'm awaiting to see whether people think this looks like me.....? For one my eyes are much smaller than they are here...Oh my just going to leave it ;)
Thanks for the comments everyone! For some reason I am having issues with commenting myself, so apologies if I don't get to respond. I just realised this is my usual pose when I'm online, ha just caught myself! Can't wait to see everyone else's!!! :)
I don't rightly know if it looks like you or not, but it's a lovely portrait, particularly for a painter who avoids them. Your use of color works so beautifully. Brave of you to be the early submission - I'm slightly terrified of this challenge, but committed to doing it.
ReplyDeleteClever use of color. I like your self-portrait, maybe you see yourself with eyes wide open to all possibilities, hence the larger eyes. Great job!
ReplyDeleteWonderful work Sally. I am intimidated by this challenge, but I am also committed to it. How else can we grow as artists, right? I love how you used the color throughout, really great piece.
ReplyDeleteSally, you chose a bold way to use your colors and this looks amazing to me, I like the hair a little uncombed and it looks natural. The expression you have caught is so neat!
ReplyDeleteI love this! You look like Alicia Silverstone in this painting! I love the blue shadows and white whites. You really nailed ROY G BIV. Oh, my. That doesn't sound right! ☺ Extra points for going first, too! Love your work!
ReplyDeleteThats great work Sally!Use of seven colors yet so neat.Good one.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful expression. I love the blues and the overall feel of this painting.
ReplyDeleteSally , I really like the loose spontaneous energy in your piece.
